Revealing the Molecular Logic of Neural Networks
We work at the interface between hard-core molecular biology and circuits neuroscience. The goal is to identify the gene programs that build stable neural networks and that allow specific cell types to operate properly within the circuit. The Lippi lab is located at the Dorris Neuroscience Center (DNC), part of The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), in beautiful La Jolla, California. We are also associated with the Neurograd program at UCSD. Please check the links below for more details about the institutions.
The Scripps Research Institute
TSRI is one of the world's largest, private, non-profit research institutes. It stands at the forefront of biomedical sciences and houses the best medicinal chemistry in the world, the ideal set-up for translational research. TSRI has been named "the most influential research institute in the world", according to the 2017 Nature Innovation Index, which sheds light on the impact of academic research.
Dorris Neuroscience Center
The Scripps Research Institute has established the DNC as a result of a generous long-term commitment by Helen L. Dorris through The Harold L. Dorris Neuroscience Foundation, named in her brother's honor. The DNC leverages the tradition of TSRI as a multidisciplinary institute bringing biological, biophysical, and chemical approaches to the study of the nervous system.
University of California, San Diego
The Neurosciences Graduate Program at the University of California, San Diego, together with five participating institutions, offers an outstanding opportunity for graduate training in one of the most highly interactive scientific environments available in the United States. UCSD graduate program is ranked fourth in the country by the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences.
